This Weekend

28 May

This weekend was a good one, we lounged around and watched a few movies (my pick was Superbad, so funny) but managed to get outside to soak up some sunshine too!

Happy Memorial Day, I hope you get to eat a hamburger off the grill today!

Museo Sorolla

27 May

This morning after breakfast I got my usual case of I-just-want-to get-out-of-the-house-jitters so we decided to visit the Museo Sorolla!  The museum is Joaquín Sorolla’s former house in Madrid and I especially like its lovely garden with fountains and orange trees.

The museum’s collection is large and not short on paintings of Spanish beaches which has only fueled all of my nonstop beach daydreaming!  Such a good reminder of why this tucked-away museum is one of my favorites in the city.

Cool Summer Breeze

26 May

I love the weekend, last night I went to dinner in Malasaña and this afternoon did a little window shopping with Kelsey.

The weather has been perfect in Madrid and I have a few days with no plans and a freezer full of ice cream treats!

This Weekend

20 May

Today I dragged myself out of bed bright and early for a 10k race–and then came home and took a long nap before lunch at Pitu’s.  There is nothing that puts me in a good mood like a morning run through the city!

Birthday Dinner with Cupcakes

19 May

Laura and Amy both have birthdays this weekend so last night Laura cooked us a pasta birthday dinner!

And after dinner we sang Happy Birthday and the birthday girls blew out their candles!

I loved just sitting around together and chatting in the living room with some red wine–the perfect girlie night!

iPhone in Sintra

18 May

I have a handful of photos leftover from our trip to Lisbon almost a month ago!

This batch of photos is from the day we spent in Sintra and the majority are from Santi’s iPhone (except for the last two goofing off in front of the artistic recycling bin).

We got our morning started off perfectly with breakfast at our hotel and then hopped in the car and headed off to Sintra.

San Isidro

16 May

Yesterday was a holiday in Madrid to celebrate the patron of the city, San Isidro.  In the afternoon we stopped by La Pradera to get in on the festivities!

We wadded into the crowd and eventually took a little rest to watch some dancing (and to do some people watching too).

We had a few rosquillas–small donuts shaped pastries–and a beer (or maybe two–it was really, really warm out)!
